NEWS:

March 2010 — Forest Mars presents Drupal makes me hAPI: Open source social publishing architecture, a discussion of the Drupal content management system, at the New York Linux Users Group general meeting.

September 2008 — Dave Williams speaks on Free Software and Education at the New York City Software Freedom Day '08 event.

September 2007 — Selso DaSilva presents a talk on “Making a movie with FOSS” at the Long Island Linux Users Group.

July 2007 — CFSG welcomes Darline Lalanne to the Board of Directors. Darline brings experienced leadership in education and community service, both in New York and her native Haiti, to the group.

April 2007 — CFSG assists the Action for Progress social services organization in converting their Houston Street Day Care Center computer lab to Free Software, using the Edubuntu GNU/Linux operating system.

November 2006 — CFSG is registered with the New York City Vendor Enrollment Center.

As an official provider of services to city agencies including the Department of Education we have partnered with the Lower Manhattan Arts Academy (LoMA) to present workshops in Free Software-based Audio Editing and Graphic Design.

July 2006 — Congratulations to Selso K. DaSilva on his election as President of CFSG. As we begin our third year we look forward to continued development of new Free Software programs serving more locations, and thank Stephen Lynch for his leadership during the previous year.

June 2006 — CFSG participates in the AAFE Youth Technology Showcase, where workshop participants demonstrate the subjects they've learned and show off the computers they built.

March 2006 — It's time for another PC Garage at the Norfolk Street Center of Asian Americans for Equality. Many thanks to AAFE, Data Conversion Laboratory, and The Oxygen Network for their generous donations of equipment.

January 2006 — CFSG has been recognized as a tax-exempt public charity under sections 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code. Many thanks to Dave Williams for helping to make this happen.

December 2005 — Participants at CFSG's Blender workshop at the Asian Americans for Equality Community Center show off their work to visitors of the open house.

October 2005 — CFSG presents an after-school workshop on 3D Animation at the Asian Americans for Equality Community Center. Selso Da Silva teaches participants how to design and animate characters using the Blender modeling and animation studio.

June 2005 — As CFSG celebrates its first anniversary, we congratulate Stephen J. Lynch on his election to the office of President of the Board of Directors. Many thanks to Marco Scoffier for his leadership during our first year, and we look forward to many new opportunities to serve the community with Free Software.

November 2004 — The second PC Garage workshop is at Grand Street Settlement.

July 2004 — Community Free Software Group, Inc. is proud to announce our incorporation as a New York State Not-for-Profit Corporation. We would like to thank Alex Pilosov for his support and assistance, and welcome Joe Maffia to the Board of Directors as our Treasurer. We are also very grateful to have Richard M. Stallman as an Honorary Director.

June 2004 — Grand Street Settlement will host a CFSG project for residents of their Lower East Side community. This workshop, conducted by Stephen Lynch, will review Information Technology tools and techniques using Free Software.

March 2004 — Marco Scoffier presents a demonstration of GNU/Linux audiovisual applications at Flux Factory, a nonprofit collaborative arts organization in Long Island City, Queens. The workshop is part of Flux Factory's Technology Initiative.

February 2004 — The Community Free Software Group, the Three Jewels Outreach Center, and Asian Americans for Equality present:

"The PC Garage — restoring, customizing and tuning your PC with Free Software."

January 2004 — CFSG attends the grand opening of the new Asian Americans for Equality Community Center and Residence at 111 Norfolk Street, New York.
